Baking Entry:

These chocolate cookies are a familiar favorite for me! A couple years ago my aunt brought these to the family Christmas party and they became a staple at the yearly party. The cookies were a favorite among the kids, adults, and Santa!

This was a great recipe to start my baking journey! A cookie with chocolate deliciousness and the best candy bar on top! This recipe did take more ingredients than I was expecting, but then again I have no idea how many ingredients usually go into a cookie. However, it was a relative easy cookie to make. I did accidentally buy the halloween snicker bars with a green inside, hence why the cookies are green. The first batch of cookies came out kind of puffy and that is when I learned that if you melt butter, you get a flatter cookie, but if you mix in room temperature butter, you get puffy cookies. When I asked my aunt why my cookies didn’t look like her cookies, she stated this tip like it is common sense. But I had no idea that melted butter impacted the outcome of the cookie! To combat the puffiness, I flatten the cookies slightly when putting on the baking sheet, since I like a flatter cookie.

Since this is my first time baking in place, I quickly realized I did not have any measuring cups. I ended up purchasing some at Walmart that were $4 and will hopefully last a while. I also needed a hand electric mixer, which I was able to borrow from a friend. Overall, this recipe was a success and a great reward! Make this cookie today and be ready for spooky season with double chocolate snicker cookies, preferably in green!

Tip No One Tells You: Melted butter makes cookies cook flatter. If you use room temperature butter and mix it in, the cookie will cook thicker.
